Wet June

Hi Folks sorry its been a while but I have been a bit unwell with a sore back so have been taking it easy while the back recovers.

Dad has now given me the all clear so its back on the fells again next week.

He informs me  the maps  are almost ready so  hopefully we should have the first walks appearing at the end of July

It's been very wet here in the lakes for  June not that the rain really bother's me unlike you stupid human's I'm built for all weathers.

On Friday 22 we had a months rainfall in 24 hours causing some flooding plus a couple of big landslides up in Whinlatter forests one of the slides has now shut the path on one of my walks lets hope they get it open again soon,

Talking of closed paths work has started on the new path along Newlands beck .The path which starts from the bridge at little Braithwaite was damaged in the 2009 floods.

The work is due to take 3 months this is really good news as its a excellant way of viewing the stunning newlands valley and a good route for us dogs as the beck is great for swimming .

We have had one or two nice days this is Derwent lake in Keswick it had been a nice afternoon so dad took me for a paddle .

As promised here is one of my video's I do like to have a dig the deeper the hole the better this is just outside the village on the side of Barrow Dad had stopped to send a text to some one so I entertained myself with a spot of digging.

Hi I'm Jess

Hi My name is Jess I'm a black Labrador living in Braithwaite  the lake district  Cumbria England over the coming months I will be adding lots of my favorite walks .Many of these walks are near to my home but some require a short drive.
Nearly all of them have fantastic views and many included a place to stop for a quick cuppa, pint or some ice cream.

Like any dog I love to play and swim so I will also be loading videos of some of the mad things I get up to hence the nick name  the Jester.

If you have any walks yourself and wish to share them , please feel free to pass them on to my Dad and he will do his best to get them onto the blog,

Here's me  on top of Barrow my local fell and one of my top  walks its a bit of pull up from Braithwaite but the views of the surrounding fells and lakes are superb .This walk takes roughly a hour at my pace and can be walked it either direction from the center of the village .More details and maps to follow.

I will also be reviewing the weather for the up and coming week as well as posting updates of the weather as it happens and pictures.

Well that's all for now folks see you again soon The Jester
